Components
Bearings, gears, springs, drives and the other parts that a fastener holds together — grouped by discipline, with the designation system each family is specified in.
How this section is being builtread this before expecting dimension tables
Fasteners in this database go all the way down to one page per size — 2,273 of them, each with a full nominal dimension table. Components are not there yet, and the honest thing is to say so rather than to publish pages that look complete and are not.
What follows is the taxonomy: the families a component database has to cover, and the designation system each one is specified in. Where a family already has a home on this site the card links to it; where it does not, the card is marked planned and does not pretend to be clickable.
MechanicalPower transmission and motion components
6 familiesPlannedBearingsRolling-element bearings are identified by a designation such as 6205, where the digits encode the boundary dimensions. Bore, outer diameter and width are standardised in ISO 15.
PlannedGearsSpur, helical, bevel and worm gears, specified by module, tooth count and pressure angle — the three numbers that decide whether a pair will mesh.
PlannedSpringsCompression, extension and torsion springs, specified by wire diameter, free length, spring rate and end condition.
PlannedChain & sprocketsRoller chain is identified by pitch — 08B on the European system, 40 on the ANSI one — with matching sprockets specified by tooth count and bore.
PlannedPulleys & beltsV-belt and timing pulleys, specified by groove profile, pitch diameter and number of grooves.
PlannedShafts & couplingsShafting is specified by diameter, tolerance and material; couplings by torque rating and the misalignment they will absorb.
ElectricalConnectors and control components
4 familiesPlannedConnectorsPluggable and terminal connectors, specified by pole count, pitch, current rating and ingress protection.
PlannedSwitchesRocker, toggle, pushbutton and limit switches, specified by contact configuration and switching current.
PlannedSensorsProximity, photoelectric and temperature sensors, specified by sensing range, output type and supply voltage.
PlannedMotorsAC induction and DC motors, specified by frame size, power, speed and mounting arrangement.
PlumbingFluid handling components
3 familiesPlannedPipes & tubesNominal bore and outside diameter are different systems and must not be interchanged — the wall thickness that goes with each is standardised separately.
PlannedValvesBall, gate, globe and check valves, specified by connection size, pressure rating and body material.
PlannedFittingsElbows, tees, reducers and adaptors, specified by connection type, size and pressure rating.
