Mechanical Parts

Bearings, gears, springs, drives and the other parts that a fastener holds together — grouped by discipline, with the designation system each family is specified in.

How this section is being builtread this before expecting dimension tables

Fasteners in this database go all the way down to one page per size — 2,273 of them, each with a full nominal dimension table. Mechanical parts are not there yet, and the honest thing is to say so rather than to publish pages that look complete and are not.

What follows is the taxonomy: the families a component database has to cover, and the designation system each one is specified in. Where a family already has a home on this site the card links to it; where it does not, the card is marked planned and does not pretend to be clickable.

Each card carries a drawing of one representative designation, with the parameters that designation is actually made of dimensioned on it — bore and outside diameter on a 6205 bearing, pitch on 08B chain, the pitch circle on a gear. These are schematics, not derived geometry: unlike the fastener pages, nothing here is computed from a nominal dimension table, because there is no table yet.
